Sadly, it's not true. The headline is actually :"Alberta government to change bonus rules after hefty payout to Hinshaw during COVID-19".

But if you want the Grey-Bruce version of the headline to be true, you (and only you) can do it. Vote accordingly in the upcoming municipal elections!

For context, Hinshaw is the Medical Officer of Health (MOH) of Alberta, an entire province. Arra is the MOH of one health unit.. And the "hefty bonus" Hinshaw received was smaller than Arra's. So far, she has only received it once, not TWICE, as Arra has.

Perhaps Hinshaw is facing lawsuits and other complaints about her performance. (Perhaps Arra is too. The public would not necessarily know that but the Board of Health would).

In any event, people in Alberta were appalled about the bonus. So were people in Grey-Bruce. The people in Alberta said as much. So did people in Grey-Bruce. The Alberta government is putting changes in place to have more control over bonus decisions like this. They did this within weeks of outcry. In Grey-Bruce, the Board of Health did NOT make changes. Instead, they dismissed the concerns and paid Arra a SECOND "hefty bonus".

In spite of what you (and the board?) may think, the board of the Grey-Bruce Health Unit DOES report to a higher power. That higher power is you, the people of Grey-Bruce.

This election is your chance to make the Grey-Bruce version of the headline come true. Vote in your municipal elections. The elected members of the board who decided to use your money to pay these bonuses are now applying for another job from you.
