Dear Editor

Mr. Edgar suggested in the Sun Times editorial on Dec 28 that the most likely solution for the Norisle dilemma would be sinking it at Little Cove to become a diving visiting site. I strongly disagree.

As a nature lover, I consider Little Cove as one of those most beautiful, tranquil and pristine locations on the whole planet - and I have traveled a lot. Crisp pine smelling air, ocean like deep blue Georgian Bay, magnificent rocks, world class sea kayaking and hiking. Even  my friends from Switzerland,- a country so famous for their natural beauty- were very impressed. They have never seen anything like our rocky, wild coast of Georgian Bay admired from the heights of the Bruce Trail.

With all the precautions, the sunk Norisle would still pollute Little Cove for decades and probably more. The oil and chemicals would ooze out slowly, together with the rust and other decay products. One of the most spectacular and clean locations of Georgian Bay should not be used as a garbage dump for the 215 ft long and 36 ft wide rusty giant!

Good luck to the Friends of Norisle to find any other more environmentally friendly and useful solution.
