On Saturday, Apr. 19, the BCM&CC celebrates the 10th Anniversary of National Canadian Film Day with screenings in the Museum’s Bruce Power Theatre with two award-winning films that highlight the power, diversity, and craft of Canadian film.

Showing at 10:00 a.m.:

Beans – a gripping drama directed by Mohawk-Canadian filmmaker Tracey Deer (2020)

This film explores the 1990 Oka Crisis through the eyes of a young Mohawk girl named Tekehentahkhwa, nicknamed “Beans,” whose life is transformed by these events.

Showing at 1:00 p.m.:

C.R.A.Z.Y. – a moving coming-of-age drama by Jean Marc Vallée, set in Quebec during the 1960s and 1970s (2005)

This film tells the story of Zac, a young gay man navigating homophobia while growing up with four brothers and his father.

National Canadian Film Day is presented by Reel Canada.
