Bruce Power Visitors Centre Tour Guides

*****

After welcoming thousands of people to the Visitors’ Centre last year following a two-year pandemic hiatus, Bruce Power is excited to have the public take part in its Summer Bus Tour Program commencing on June 2.

Tours begin at the Bruce Power Visitors’ Centre, at 3394 County Rd. 20, north of Tiverton, where participants will have the opportunity to watch a short film and interact with displays on the nuclear electricity process, the production of cancer-fighting medical isotopes, refurbishment projects, the company’s commitment to safety and the environment, as well as the changes to the site as it progresses with its Life-Extension Program.

After a security check of each person’s government-issued photo ID (for individuals over the age of 18), visitors will continue to learn about clean and reliable nuclear energy by boarding a bus and taking a one-hour, narrated tour of the 2,300-acre site.

“Inviting tourists and local residents of our surrounding counties to see inside the gates of Bruce Power is something we look forward to every summer, and this year is no different,” said Dwight Irwin, Bruce Power’s Manager of Community Relations. “The response in past years has been fantastic, and we expect to see a high number of registrations again due to the interest in our work providing clean, reliable power to Ontario and cancer-fighting medical isotopes worldwide.”

Tours will be offered Monday to Friday in June at 10:00 a.m. and in July and August at 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. (except statutory holidays) to guests who pre-register. Please note, some days are unavailable due to special events and the final tour of the season will be August 31.

It is highly recommended that participants pre-register to secure their seat as space is limited. Guests should arrive to the Visitors’ Centre at least 30 minutes prior to their scheduled tour to watch the welcome film in the air-conditioned theatre and complete required security checks. There are limited walk-in spots for each tour, and you must arrive 45 minutes prior to departure and have the required identification to claim one of these spots.

The Bruce Power Visitors’ Centre, located at 3394 Bruce County Rd. 20, north of Tiverton, is open Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., excluding statutory holidays.

Larger groups such as service clubs, school and church groups, and other business and community organizations are also welcome. To arrange a site tour for larger groups, call 519.361.7777 or email BNPDVisitorCentre@brucepower.com.
