Paneer Montage 23

Anna Jean Bradley is relieved that her cheesemaking and cooking classes are back after a long pandemic pause.

“You wouldn’t necessarily think of the social aspect of a cooking class first, but that’s what I enjoy the most and missed the most about these classes” says Anna Jean.

Classes are now being held in the Harmony Centre kitchen and the next class is Sunday, Apr. 30, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., where participants will be making paneer and then turning that into an Indian inspired feast to eat together at the end of class.

cheeseclassAnna Jean points out that kitchens, food and cooking create human bonding experience with deep roots in our psyches . She is grateful both that the classes are running again, and that they can now contribute to participant’s recovery from the social isolation of the pandemic.

Jenny, a recent participant, says "I was surprised by the level of camaraderie that developed among the participants.

“Even before we were deprived of so much human contact, I already felt that the Long Table of people eating together in community was becoming too rare in our modern world. It gave and gives me so much pleasure to see the joy of eating great food combined with lively conversation around that long table at the end of class.”

Anna Jean enjoys teaching the classes for her own social reasons too! She usually co-teaches with her daughter Emily – the Mimi of Mimi’s Cafe formerly at the Wiarton Airport, and sometimes her daughter in law Julie of Stonegrove Farm & Wellness Studio.
