dudeSo ... it actually very likely IS going to rain on our parade this Saturday, but only physically!

Practically no winds, but 10 to 15 millimetres of rain drops.

As the saying goes – there is no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing!

Part of adapting to this changing climate is finding ways of coming together and having fun despite the conditions ... the show must go on!

This year's Procession of the Species has been organized with our friends at the M'Wikwedong Indigenous Friendship Centre and will be bringing to life the Seven Grandfather Teachings – so come learn about what Turtle, Beaver, Wolf, Raven, Bear, Eagle, Buffalo have to teach us in this time of reckoning with the power of mother nature.

Here are a few things we can do to prepare for the rain:

  • Bring an umbrella
  • Wear warm clothes and rain gear if you have some
  • Store your paper maché in a car or under the covered area
  • A thermos of hot chocolate will be your friend
  • Make peace with the fact that your paper maché will get wet and will need to sit outside to dry when the sun comes out

Parade schedule:

  • 3:45 p.m. – Meet at gathering point in front of Market
  • 4:00 p.m. – Parade start – head to 9th Street East around the circuit
  • 4:15 p.m. – Parade pauses for Sheatre's Act For Climate play
  • 4:20 p.m. – Resume parade route back to the market

Please preserve your paper maché after the parade! We will tell you why later!!!

We have a wonderful day of activities planned for Saturday at and around the Owen Sound Farmers Market, so check out the full program to plan your day.

Last thing! Spring Cleaning Call for all your old wool (any fibres actually), single, sad socks. Bring 'em! Waste Watchers will help you upcycle them to Smartwool sock heaven.
