The Owen Sound Little Theatre is ending their 2022-2023 season with another locally written production: Gorgeous Gallivanting Goddesses.

This play, written by OSLT member Sheilah Spurr, is a witty comedy that follows four close female friends on a wilderness camping trip over three different decades.

Directed by Bill Murphy, a longstanding member of OSLT who has been involved both backstage and onstage, Gorgeous Gallivanting Goddesses takes place at the same wilderness campsite at three different decades.

The canoe trip is an adjustment for the four women as they are removed from modern amenities, comforts, and the distractions and crises that their regular lives bring to them. For each woman, this is a thought-provoking journey into the self and their relationships with each other as they come face to face with their true selves.

Said Director Bill Murphy, "This isn’t a question of choice of play. Thirteen years ago, I agreed to read a play script written by my friend, and OSLT member, Sheilah Spurr. We are now at the culmination of that decision. We have collaborated during that time on bringing the script to the stage, and here we are. I am excited to bring Sheilah’s work to the stage, and help her realize her vision. I think the audience will love the comedy, but the drama in the stories of the lives of these four women will resonate with the audience as well."

The production runs June 15-17 and 21-24 at 7:30 p.m. Masking is appreciated at all shows, but only required for the June 23 show, where, for the safety of our patrons, we are offering a masked patron performance.

Tickets can be purchased in person at our box office, online, or by calling 519.371.2833.
