Following up on the idea of planning to archive the Owen Sound Hub to date for future researchers, I visited Grey Roots Archives today.

Archivist Karin Noble and Assistant Archivist Kate Jackson (and a young man whose name I'm sorry I didn't ask) were very interested, and have put their hivemind to work considering options for us.

We'll need to keep the text of the articles, that's for certain, and all the images that were taken locally.

Ideally the links would live as long as the things they are linked to, because often they tell a part of the story that would be less clear without them. And the archive will have to be searchable – at the very least by date, but really by keyword if it is to be useful.

This article – an advertisement – details some of the challenges and limitations of digital storage techniques. We will happily receive any leads on this process.

We will keep researching and working with professionals so that this part of Owen Sound history, the things you wrote and shared, will not be lost, regardless of software, hosting or ownership changes.

And so we will not see this.
