You are invited to a climate engagement event, Imaging Green, on June 27th at 7pm at the Ginger Press Bookstore.

As the language about climate shifts from “change” to “crisis” to “emergency”, the sense we need to act intensifies. The words “crisis” and “emergency,” however, can spark fear, and fear can paralyze. To move into action, we need to feel that we can make a difference. We need to see that new technologies work to reduce carbon output. We need to know that our small changes—sweeping rather than vacuuming—add up when many people make these changes. But I also think that we need to be able to picture a different future than the one we are headed toward.

That’s where Imaging Green comes in. Words can help us to visualize the future we want and need. At this event, poets and prose writers will share their words to inspire hope and action. Some of the works shared will describe the beauty and fragility of the world we live in. Some will point to the intersections that make this a justice issue. Some will shine a light on the direction we don’t want to go.

Join presenters Cathy Hird, Rob Rolfe, Liz Zetlin, Terry Burns, Patricia Cambell, Danuta Valleau, and Richard-Yves Sitoski for an inspiring evening. Come and listen and join in the disccussion!
