Unless the safety of an individual or the public may be at risk, OwenSoundHub does not generally publish names of individuals arrested by police, even if the name is included in a media release.  That applies today.  But the details are here to encourage readers to pull over and report erratic, unsafe driving.  Thanks to this good citizen, who may have saved the driver's life.

On November 27, 2016 at approximately 7:07 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received information from a concerned motorist regarding a possible impaired driver operating a vehicle erratically, westbound on Hwy. 26 in the Municipality of Meaford.

Police located the vehicle stopped on the shoulder of Hwy. 26 near Grey Rd. 18.  The lone driver, who had been drinking alcohol and exhibited signs of impairment, was arrested for impaired driving. He was transported to the Chatsworth OPP Detachment for breath tests. Test results indicated he had more than three times the limit of alcohol in his system.  A quantity of liquor was seized from within the vehicle.

The driver was charged with impaired driving, over 80 mgs, and driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor under the Liquor Licence Act and is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on December 22, 2016.
