Registration for the Josh Armstrong Memorial Ball Hockey Tournament is open.
On Saturday, Jan. 21, the Josh Armstrong Road Hockey Tournament will kick off at 11:00 a.m. at Harrison Park, as part of the Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada event. Registration for the tournament is now open online.
In September 2019, Josh Armstrong passed away at the age of 12. Even at such a young age, Josh left a legacy as a forever team player when he donated his organs to help others live. He was an avid hockey player and golfer and loved sports.
Hosting the charity road hockey tournament during Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada will allow the community to come together to celebrate his memory while supporting his family’s charity of choice.
The tournament will host two divisions, based on age, with four teams in each division. Each team will consist of seven players, including one goalie.
The Under 11 and Under 12 division is open to players born in 2010 or 2011.
The Under 13 and Under 14 division is open to players born in 2008 or 2009.
The deadline for team registration is Wednesday, Jan. 4, at 4:30 p.m. Team registration includes the completed registration form and $140 team payment, delivered to the Community Services counter at City Hall.
The first four teams in each age group that submit the required documents and payment will receive a spot in the tournament.
To register, visit the City's HDIC information site.
