On February 28, 2018 Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police were conducting Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program on Salem Road. At approximately 9:58 p.m. police stopped a grey Saturn with a lone male driver. An open bottle of beer was observed in the vehicle. The male driver registered a "warning" on the roadside screening device. A warning is registered on a device when the reading from the breath sample is between 50-79 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.
The 29-year-old male of Southampton was charged with having liquor in an open container in other than licenced premises, residence or private place under the Liquor Licence Act 31(2).
The accused's driver's licence was suspended for registering a warning, a 3 day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension.
