OS-Policesept-fullAn Owen Sound man is in custody and Fentanyl has been seized.

During the afternoon hours of February 28, 2018, a drug trafficking investigation conducted by the Owen Sound Police Service Drug Enforcement Unit was concluded with the arrest of a 28 year old Owen Sound man.

The investigation revealed that the accused has recently been involved in the trafficking of Fentanyl as well as other narcotics. Police located the accused as he walked along 8th Street East in the downtown core and placed him under arrest. The accused attempted to resist his arrest however was safely subdued.

The accused was found in possession of Fentanyl in powder form as well as several pills that appeared to be regular prescription medication however are believed by Investigators to contain quantities of Fentanyl.

The accused was charged with Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking, Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest and several Breaches of Court Orders. The accused was held in custody.

The Owen Sound Police Service reminds the public regarding the significant dangers involved in the misuse of prescription medications. The use of medications should be restricted to those to whom they are prescribed, that are within their original container and taken at the specific dosage directed by a medical professional.
